When Sarah Dee realized she had a knack for costume-making, she unwittingly became an in-demand costumer for the furry fandom (and quit her day job). Her clients have defied stereotypes of this obscure subculture by not focusing primarily on sex (‘Of the 300-plus costumes I’ve made, I have had one person ask for a hole with a zipper at the crotch’, she says) and showing true appreciation for anthropomorphic art. F U R S O N A is a BFD Original film, directed by Roxy Hunt. The film explores the world for furries through the eye of a costume maker. The film was purchased by The Guardian and premiered on The Guardian.com
